Mobile phone signals are specific to radio and microwaves as this wave type is perfect for long distant communication. By using radio waves for signal, this allows for a wider range to call using a mobile phone. Although microwaves have less frequency and wavelength, they are used as it still travels a fairly long distance. If signals such as gamma rays were used, then the range to use a mobile phone would be much less compared to the current use of radio and micro waves. The radio/micro waves of mobile phones are transmitted to a signal tower which then extends the signals to the caller/receiver.
